Space Clearing

metis_collage

This proposal for a summer garden is constructed around the relationship between three different surfaces: the horizontal plane constructed by the visitor’s moving eye, the folded plane implied by the location of the vine pots, and the curved surface defined by the cable structure deformed under the vine pots’ weight. Through the interrelation between these three surfaces, we propose to encase the horizon line in a space defined by vines and cables. Like a clearing in the forest, Space Clearing proposes an empty space defined by nature, an open and function-free room available to be appropriated by garden visitors as they please.
