Sergio Lopez-Pineiro is the founder of Holes of Matter. His work has been supported by different institutions such as the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) and The MacDowell Colony, where he was a resident in the spring of 2012, and has been published and featured in several publications such as arq: Architecture Research Quarterly, Places, 2G, Bracket, and the Boston Globe. Lopez-Pineiro graduated from ETSAM (Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid) in 1998 and received his M.Arch. degree from Princeton University in 2004, where he was awarded the Suzanne Kolarik Underwood Prize. A registered architect in Spain, Lopez-Pineiro has previously worked at No.mad (Madrid, 1998-2000) and at Foreign Office Architects (London, 2000-2002). Lopez-Pineiro has taught at the University at Buffalo, the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IaaC), Temple University, and UC Berkeley. During 2006-07, he held the Reyner Banham Fellowship at the University at Buffalo Department of Architecture.
