Hypostyle Hall

bringlight_topview

As a refuge from commercial and programmatic pressures, blank spaces can embody the public realm of a democratic and open society. Using this assumption as a point of departure, Hypostyle Hall is a light installation conceived as a response to reticular spatial types (such as abandoned/unoccupied factories or office spaces) exposing how their transformation can lead to the re-imagination of public space. This project explores how the emptiness existing in these spaces can be preserved in order to prevent them from aligning with single powers, meanings, or functions, and thereby becoming public in their fullest sense.
