Trades can be of two types depending on the worker’s observation skills: deception managers or truth revealers. The first group is composed of spies, con artists, and negotiators: all of them try to show what is not while ambiguously hiding what it really is. The second group is mainly defined by artists: for them, an artistic product can or cannot work. Art is or is not. There is no middle ground; period.

Sergio López-Piñeiro (Madrid, 1973) received his Diploma in Architecture from ETS Arquitectura Madrid in 1998 and his M.Arch. degree from Princeton University in 2004, where he was awarded the Suzanne Kolarik Underwood Prize. He has previously worked at Foreign Office Architects (London, 2000-2002) and at NoMad (Madrid, 1998-2000). Currently, Sergio López-Piñeiro is an assistant professor at the University at Buffalo Department of Architecture.
